We are no different than anyone else, and we decided to do some remodeling in the hall.
Let me show you what we are working on:
Check out these flush/flat doors.
We hated them when we moved in and gave them a budget-style "updated" look about ten years ago when we "antiqued" them: we painted them a tan color then distressed them using sandpaper and stain.
We chose really cool new doors that I will show you soon.
Yes, we tore all the skinny trim of the wall, from around the doors and the baseboard as well.
It was a lot of fun! We got some wider trim that we are very happy with.
the living-room, kitchen, hall, and master bedroom.
The entry was actually yellow for the longest time.
Time for an updated color.
I actually really like the little ensemble I had come up with at the end of the hall: two vintage suitcases (great for storage) on top of each other, an English Riding Helmet,
and a large-ish round mirror.
What I didn't like was that light-switch: it is not centered on the wall, and the height is just a little bit wrong: I could never figure out how to hang anything on the wall at the right height. As you can see I had caved in by covering up part of the light-switch in order to hang the mirror at a pleasant height.
I really like this picture of Jesus, and I also really like the location: above the stairs right across from the front-door-entry into our home. The framing mat was red to match the red walls in the kitchen and living-room that were so stylish ten, fifteen years ago.
The red was getting old.
My youngest painted the WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?) sign above it when she was little. Of course I was incredibly emotionally attached.
The green picture is a vintage map of the Idaho Primitive Area in central Idaho. My husband found this map on one of his excursions there. He loves the Challis National Forrest and the Salmon River Mountains and knows them like the back of his hand.
I liked the green color of the map to match my green decor items in the living room:
the Idaho map, and Grandfather clock.
hanging doors and trim, painting, decorating, etc.
I can't wait to show you how it is all turning out....!!
Yay!!
