Tall Tales
~ dressing our best at taller than average height ~
She got to be featured first, so now it's my turn:
My mommy height is 5'11" which I guess means I am tall.
However: I do not feel tall.
I just feel completely normal.
Now the next question is this: how long will it take you to find the Tall Section?
It will take you a very long time, because it doesn't exist.....!!!!
Tall people have to go through all the racks of the clothing (geared toward people of average height of 5'4") to see if some of the items possibly may work for them. 95% of the clothing in the women's, misses, and junior's clothing can be eliminated, because it is too short to fit our long bodies. Of the last 5% we have to discover things that match our style, expresses our personality, and flatter our features.
And then there's price; we have to count our pennies too......
Finding something to wear is a huge time investment!
Oh boy! I'm tired just thinking about it....

So when I go shopping
the first thing I look for is length,
second comes style/pricing/etc.
And I try to come up with something cute....
I am wearing a seersucker skirt {Ami ~ Ross: it reaches my knee: yay!!}, perfect for spring/summer. So light and flowy, plus it needs no ironing. I've actually had the skirt for a few years, but never really had anything to wear with it. Until I found this top: a yellow lace T-shirt {Bella Bird}. The cropped jean jacket {Earl Jean ~ T.J.Maxx} works well for my height because it is supposed to be short, so it doesn't look like it's unintentionally too short. As long as I wear a shirt underneath that is long enough, I can wear this cropped jacket with just about anything. Rolling up the sleeves is a common trick for tall people to hide the fact that the sleeves are too short. The watch is Fossil. I am also wearing Naturalizer sandals {very comfy} but somehow they did not make it into the picture....
When we were coming up with a name for this new series, I have to admit that Juliette and I had a disagreement about the subtitle phrase. She wanted it to say: "Looking Awesome," but I don't have that kind of confidence. For me being tall and dressing my best is a journey. My preference was "Trying to Look Our Best." Dressing so I don't look like I've outgrown my clothes is a daily battle and I try my hardest to look my personal best
{some days are better than others}.
Our compromise: "Trying for Awesome"
I am the one who is trying.
She has this looking good aspect down much better than I do,
so we will let her have the spotlight on the awesome part!
