On a piece of paper I kept track of which number corresponded with which portion.
(On the actual chair I just drew thin pencil lines - no numbers)
That number determined where he or she would get to paint.
Each child had different creative ideas, which made it even more fun... :)
I just love kids!
Only three children at a time worked on the chair, because we really couldn't squeeze in more than that.
The teacher was generous enough to let me do this in the classroom, so the children would just take turns, then go back to their regular school-work.
{Guess which portion - hint: "We the people...."}
That was a fun little touch.
With the chair I included a guide with the above chair sketch and the names of the children with their corresponding numbers. Hopefully people will be able to say years from now: "Look: this is the portion Andrea painted" (or Tyler, Skye, etc., etc.).
A real auctioneer guided the bidding this evening, which made it a lot of fun!
*sorry about the low quality of the pictures: the only chance I had to take these was at the event... :(
to do for me and the 5th graders.... :)
