Crafting Cards and Letters
Consider making use of the things around you to make your own stationery, too. Old maps, wrapping paper, and even foil add a decorative flair to one-of-a-kind letters. Paired with a good sturdy card stock, these items make excellent, funky invitations and notices. You can even reuse old letters, postcards, and cards to give them new life. Take apart these letters and recombine them in interesting ways to create something new.
Creating Tools
You’ll need plenty of glue for decorating your notes. Consider white glue, rubber cement, and sticks of glue. Hot glue is useful for heavy add-ons but works best on heavy stock paper. Feel free to use anything else that you think might come in handy. Glitter, ribbon, cut-outs, and stencils all add an extra touch of fun, especially on seasonal cards.
Don't stress out while working on this project. This DIY stationery is meant to be fun for the entire family, so let the kids jump in with the craziest ideas — you can be sure they’ll come up with something original! — and see how it turns out. Glue and glitter will most likely end up everywhere, but put down some newspaper and you'll be fine.
Once you have the first few "prototypes" worked out, you’ll have got the hang of this crafting hobby. You’ll have got a great deal of enjoyment out of it, too!
